Answer: It WILL hold an IPad 12.5". That's what I used it for. However, if you use it in bed, as I did) you will need a large rubber band to hold it. Otherwise, due to the weight of the iPad ples, it will topple forward. H was recovering from surgery and used it while on my back in bed. Hope this helps!
